Where to Walk….

We are uniquely surrounded by three Nature Reserves, click on the links to find local walks and discover what you might see whilst enjoying the countryside. All you need to do is walk out of the gate and go!


Right on our doorstep!

These woods are one of the last remnants of the ancient Rockingham Forest, noted for its amazing woodland flora including carpets of bluebells and wild garlic. In late April and Early May these woods are simply stunning!

Circular Walk

Explore the surrounding villages of Yarwell, Wansford and Nassington on this circular walk, taking in the River Nene and glorious Nene valley. Take a break at Wansford’s Country Lounge and the Queens Head at Nassington too.

Covering 520 acres, the extensive flora includes beech, birch, field maple, bluebells, primroses, celandines, violets and wood anemones, wild strawberries and garlic. Spot deer, cuckoo, foxes, red kites and buzzards.


Walk or cycle around Rutland Water

For those looking for peaceful walks and unspoilt scenery, Rutland Water is just a 20-minute drive away. Surrounded by a 25-mile circular track for cycling - a bike ride around the reservoir will take about 90 minutes. Cycle hire is available if you don't want to bring your own. Getting out and enjoying the water couldn't be easier at the Watersports Centre and Sailing Clubs - even a novice can get out on the water. Rutland Water Park also offers world-class trout fishing and bird watching. The Nature Reserve is home to the first breeding Ospreys in England for 150 years.


Explore Fineshade Woods - for young and a bit older alike!

Whether you want to have a leisurely wander through the trees, get the kids to let off some steam at one of the exciting play areas or go on a bike ride, Fineshade Wood is bursting with opportunities to explore the great outdoors. There are several walking trails, short and long, plus the Super Worm Trail and even days out with the Gruffalo! There is something for every member of the family and just 15 minutes away!
